The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is a public research university in Arlington, Texas, midway between Dallas and Fort Worth. It is the third-largest producer of graduates in Texas. The university’s 420-acre main campus is at the southern edge of downtown Arlington, which also includes the largest branch of the public library, City Hall, Theatre Arlington, Levitt Pavilion, Arlington Museum of Art, churches, and numerous types of businesses.
College Park Center regularly hosts basketball and volleyball games, concerts, lectures, commencements, and numerous other high-profile events. UTA is home to the Glass Art Studio - a facility that consists of several purpose-built, state-of-the-art, technically specialized studio areas. It also has a Maverick Activities Center - a $34.5 million, 190,000-square-foot recreation facility with theaters and stages.
UT Arlington has three libraries - Central Library, the Architecture, and Fine Arts Library, and the Science and Engineering Library. They have special historical collections on Texas, Mexico, and Mexican-American War. Altogether, they hold more than 30,000 volumes, 7,000 manuscripts and archival collections, 5,000 historical maps, and 3.6 million prints.
UTA houses dozens of research centers and institutes that are developing eco-friendly alternative energy processes, addressing major health threats, and exploring the mysteries of the universe, among other things.
