The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is a public research university in Reno, Nevada. Nevada is the sole land grant institution for the state of Nevada. UNR’s main campus is located just north of downtown Reno overlooking Truckee Meadows and the downtown casinos.
The campus is home to the large-scale structures laboratory in the College of Engineering, which has put Nevada researchers at the forefront nationally in a wide range of civil engineering, earthquake, and large-scale structures testing and modeling.
The University of Nevada offers a variety of options to students who choose to stay on campus. There are eight different residence halls, seven of which house primarily freshman students. Known as one of America's best small cities, Reno is a tech hub that offers an array of year-round activities, including sporting events, food fests, performing arts, concerts, and more. The university’s fitness center has three basketball gymnasiums, areas for weightlifting, cardio training, mind-body training, a fitness staircase, 1/8th mile running track, and a multitude of new fitness classes and activities.
UNR is also home to the weekly student newspaper - The Nevada Sagebrush, a student magazine called Insight Magazine, and a student-run radio station, Wolf Pack Radio. The university has more than 254 student organizations and groups on campus for you to explore and meet new people who share your interests.
