University of Miami

The University of Miami (UM) is a private research university in Coral Gables, Florida and comprises 11 schools and colleges serving undergraduate and graduate students in more than 180 majors and programs. The university, spread across 400 acres, has three campuses - Coral Gables, Miller School Campus, and Rosenstiel School Campus.

The Coral Gables campus, the University's main campus, is home to two colleges and seven schools and is located on a 239-acre tract in Coral Gables, approximately 11 kms away from downtown Miami.

UM is a major research university spending about $324 million in research and sponsored program expenditures annually. While the majority of the research work is housed at the Miller School of Medicine, investigators conduct hundreds of studies in other areas, including marine science, engineering, education, and psychology.

UM offers more than 40 service organizations, 270-plus clubs, a student-operated newspaper, radio station, and other media, nearly three dozen fraternities and sororities for you to engage in enriching civic and community life. The university's athletic teams called Hurricanes, commonly referred to as the Canes, field 18 teams across men's and women's athletics and have won 21 team national championships.

The University is located on a 239-acre main campus in Coral Gables (population: 49,631), eight miles from downtown Miami; branch Bradenton, Coral Gables, Miami, and Virginia Key, FL. Served by bus; major airport and train serve Miami. School operates transportation throughout the main and Rosenstiel campuses. Public transportation serves all four branch campus (including main campus) locations.
