University of Maine

The University of Maine (UMaine or UMO) is a public research university in Orono, Maine. It is a land grant university and is a flagship university of the University of Maine system. The university offers 35 doctoral programs and master's degrees in 85 fields, and more than 90 undergraduate majors and academic programs that are organized in five colleges.

The main campus of UMaine is located in Orono along the banks of the Stillwater River and provides on-campus housing in 19 residence halls. Through the Balance Student Fitness Center on the main campus, Campus Recreation offers everything from recreation facilities to intramurals, to sports clubs to fitness classes. There are over 200 student clubs and organizations, athletic events, and Greek organizations for you to get involved in. The university participates in the NCAA's Division I level and is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association for football, Hockey East for ice hockey, and the America East Conference for all other sports.

The University of Maine at Machias (UMM) is the university’s regional campus. The campus is situated on 243 acres, with a series of wilderness walking trails, athletic fields, student dormitories, and classrooms. The campus houses 8 Greek organizations, more than 15 student organizations, and 6 varsity level teams.
