The University of Houston, founded in 1927 is a public research university in southeast Houston, Texas. It is the third-largest university in Texas with over 50000 students every year both online and on-campus mode. The university has 667 acres of campus with green spaces and various sculptures and fountains.
The university offers 255 undergraduate, 111 master's, 51 doctoral, and professional degrees along with various research centers. The university has a fund of about $700 million for research and it awards more than 8000 degrees to students every year. The university also has notable faculty, some of them include Paul Chu who is a National Medal of Science recipient and Laureate Jody Williams who has received the Nobel Peace Prize.
The student community of the University of Houston is one of the most diverse communities among the public research universities in the US. It has about 500 student organizations and sports teams. The university also hosts different summer camps for its students every year along with various community projects. The university also has a strong alumni network, some of them are Bonnie J. Dunbar who is a former NASA astronaut, James Joseph Parsons an award-winning actor, and Jack Valenti who is a president of the Motion Picture Association of America.
