University of California, San Diego

The University of San Diego, also known as UC San Diego or UCSD, is a public research university located in San Diego city of California state. In addition to being a land-grant university, it is also a sea-grant and space-grant university. It was established in 1960 and is the 7th-oldest university among the 10 University of California campuses and offers over 200 undergraduate and graduate programs. 

The university is located in the residential neighborhood of La Jolla, which is to the north of San Diego. Its main campus houses 761 buildings that sit atop a 1,152-acres of land with natural reserves covering the central part of the campus. Its facilities include residential facilities, eucalyptus groves, Birch Aquarium, and several major research centers. 

The university has some of the most influential scientific minds to conduct research and collaborate with its students in their groundbreaking research projects. They encourage and promote a culture of fresh thinking and experimentation to arrive at unexpected answers that leave a lasting impression. 

UC San Diego was founded with the idea to transform California and the diverse global society by educating, generating, disseminating knowledge and creative works, and engaging the public through service. 

The University is located on a 1,200-acre campus in La Jolla (San Diego population: 1,355,896), 12 miles from downtown San Diego. Major airport serves San Diego; train serves Del Mar (five miles). School operates transportation around campus and to medical center in San Diego.
