The University of California Riverside (UCR) is a land-grant public research university located in the Riverside city of California State. It was founded in 1954 and is one of the ten general campuses of the University of California System.
Its main campus sits on 1,900-acre land in the suburbs of Riverside. The university is renowned for being the most ethnically and economically diverse university in the US for being open to all minorities. UCR provides over 48 masters and 42 doctoral programs.
Finding a place among the top 1% of the universities worldwide, the University of California (UCR) Riverside also ranks among the top 25 comprehensive research universities in the USA. It has been known for more than 60 years of high impact research. The university's mission is to discover, communicate, translate, apply, and preserve knowledge to enrich the state's economic, social, cultural, and environmental future.
The University is located on a 1,200-acre, suburban campus in Riverside (population: 316,619), 60 miles from Los Angeles. Served by bus and train; major airports serve Ontario (15 miles), Santa Ana (34 miles), and Los Angeles.
