The University of California, Davis which is also known as UC Davis is a public research university and a land-grant university located just next to Davis city in California state. It is part of the University of California system and has the third-largest enrollment. The university was initially founded in 1905 as a branch and was later converted to a separate university in 1959.
The university is located adjacent to the city of Davis which is a college town. Its main campus is located just 24 kilometers west of Sacramento in the Sacramento valley. While the location of the campus provides it with the isolation that is required for a college town, it still has access to a large and lively metropolitan area nearby.
It is classified as a comprehensive doctoral research university with a medical program and a very high research activity. The university offers 102 undergraduate majors and 101 graduate programs

The University is located on a 5,300-acre campus in Davis (population: 66,205), 15 miles from Sacramento. Served by bus and train; small airport on campus; major airport serves Sacramento. School operates transportation to Sacramento Medical Center.
