The University of New Mexico

The University of New Mexico (UNM) is a public research university in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The university offers 94 bachelor's, 71master's, 37doctoral, and professional degree programs spread across 12 colleges and schools. UNM occupies nearly 800 acres in the heart of Albuquerque, a metropolitan area of more than 5,00,000 people. 

The campus is split into three parts - Central, North, and South. The central campus is home to the primary academic university and the University of New Mexico Arboretum, which has 320 different species of woody plants. The north campus houses the university’s Medical and Law Schools and the University of New Mexico Hospital. The south campus is 1.5 km away from the central campus and is home to most of the university’s athletic facilities. 

The university provides eight residence halls for you to live on campus. However, most of UNM’s student population lives off-campus around the Albuquerque metropolitan area. UNM is also home to the Student Union Building, the principal activity center for students on campus. The center houses a food court, a movie theater, event facilities, student government and organization offices, student services, and recreation areas.

The university’s NCAA Division I program offers 16 varsity sports. The athletic teams are called  Lobos, and they compete in the Mountain West Conference. There are over 400 student organizations on campus and fraternities and sororities for you to explore and get involved.
