The University of Illinois at Chicago

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is a public research university in Illinois, Chicago. Its roots go back to as early as 1882. However, in 1982, it merged the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle and the University of Illinois at the Medical Center to form the University of Illinois at Chicago. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), which accredits degree-granting post-secondary institutions in the North Central region of the United States.

It is the largest university in the Chicago area, with over 33,000 students and 12,000 employees in 16 colleges. The campus is built so that the full potential of its students is unlocked. It has excellent infrastructure for innovative technology, a health and wellness center for its students to maintain a healthy body and mind, and the tools required to succeed in classrooms through academic support services.

The university offers over 86 bachelor's, 111 master's, and 66 doctoral degrees through its 16 colleges. It provides one faculty member for every 19 students, thus preparing them for a fulfilling career.

The University is located on a 243-acre, urban campus in Chicago (population: 2,718,782). Served by air, bus, and train. School operates transportation around campus and to local train stations.  Branch campuses in Peoria, Rockford, Quad Cities, and Urbana.
