The Ohio State University, Columbus

Established in 1804, Ohio University is a public research university located in Athens, Ohio. It is the first university to be chartered by an Act of Congress and the first to be chartered in Ohio. The university is home to students from more than 100 countries. The university offers more than 250 academic programs.

The university has a total number of  11 campuses and centers across the state including an extension campus in Dublin. It also houses 7 on-campus art galleries. The university has a residential campus in Athens, Ohio, overlooking the Hocking River. The main campus is divided into different colleges and centers. This campus also houses an Edwards Accelerator Laboratory, with a particle accelerator used for nuclear physics and astrophysics research. It also has a lot of other research centers. 

The university is home to one of the largest recreational facilities in the US which include a double-sided climbing wall, five basketball/volleyball courts, two multipurpose gymnasiums, an elevated four-lane indoor running track, and eight racquetball courts, and an enclosed glass fitness area, among other facilities. 

Ohio university houses more than 500 student clubs and organizations. It has its own student media including a student-run newspaper, a radio station, and a public television channel. There are 36 active club sports programs in Ohio, run by the Department of Campus Recreation. The university sponsors 16 NCAA Division I teams. 

The University is located on a 3,469-acre campus in Columbus (population: 822,553); branch campuses in Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Newark, and Wooster. Served by air and bus; train serves Cincinnati (100 miles). School operates transportation on campus and to some nearby neighborhoods.
