Stony Brook University, New York

Stony Brook University founded in 1957 is a public research university in Stony Brook, New York. It is one of the State University of New York's flagship institutes and its campus spreads across 1039 acres of land on the north shore of Long Island in New York.

The university is among the most dynamic universities in the US with an internationally recognized research institution offering world-class education to its students. The university has more than 200 undergraduate, 100 master's, and 50 doctoral programs with 60 different majors and 80 minors. About 98% of the university faculty have doctoral or highest degrees in their fields.

There are about 300 student organizations, fraternities, sororities, and clubs. The athletic teams compete in the NCAA America East Conference. The university is also known for its well-known alumni some of them include Chris Algieri who is a professional boxer, Kim Barnes Arico who is a head coach of the Michigan Wolverines women's basketball team, and Mark Bridges, an Academy Award-winning costume designer.

The University is located on a 1,450-acre campus in Stony Brook (population: 13,740) on Long Island, 60 miles from New York City.  Campus served by railroad, New York City's major airports, and the Long Island MacArthur airport (12 miles).
