Stevens Institute of Technology

Stevens Institute of Technology is a private research university in Hoboken, New Jersey. Founded in 1870, it is one of the oldest technological universities in the US and was the first college in America that was dedicated to mechanical engineering.

Stevens is composed of four academic schools - the Charles V. Schaefer Jr. School of Engineering and Science, the School of Systems and Enterprises, the School of Business, and the College of Arts and Letters. It offers 29 undergraduate majors, 43 master's programs, and 22 Ph.D. programs.

The research enterprise of the university features three national Centres of Excellence - the National Centre for Secure and Resilient Maritime Commerce, the National Systems Engineering Research Centre, and the Atlantic Centre for the Innovative Design and Control of Small Ships.  The university also features the Centre for the Advancement of Secure Systems and Information Assurance, dedicated to advancements in cybersecurity. 

The university has a sports center, the Schaefer Athletic and Recreation Centre, which features a large pool and indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, squash, and racquetball courts. There are over 100 clubs and organizations on campus to help you find something that piques your interest. Stevens was recognized for exceptional commitment to sustainability, based on academic offerings and career preparation for students, campus policies, initiatives, and activities, in The Princeton Review's “Guide to 375 Green Colleges, 2017.”

The University is located on a 55-acre campus in Hoboken (population: 50,545), one mile from New York City. Served by bus and train; major airports serve Newark (10 miles) and New York City.
