Established in 1923, Rowan University is a public research university located in Glassboro, New Jersey. It was initially founded as Glassboro Normal School and was one of the first colleges in the US to offer programs for teachers with reading disabilities and physical therapy. It got its university status and current name in 1997.
Rowan University has its main campus in Glassboro, New Jersey with a medical campus in Stratford, New Jersey, and medical and academic campuses in Camden, New Jersey. The university offers 74 bachelor's and 51 master's degree programs, four doctoral programs, and two professional programs.
Rowan University is a destination for world-renowned productions of music, dance, theatre, and visual art events & programs. It has a lot of art galleries, and museums, and its arts faculty organizes fine art exhibitions, recitals, operas, musicals, original choreography, literary readings, lectures, film screenings, and more.
Rowan University has more than 100 different clubs and organizations. The university also offers great media facilities, with three main publications run completely by students, including a student-run newspaper and an award-winning radio station. The university also has a Rowan Television Network (RTN) which is a student-run closed-circuit television station that provides 24-hour content to the students of the university. Rowan University houses a total of 18 sports teams (8 men's and 10 women's) which are members of the NCAA in Division III.
