Rochester Institute of Technology

Established in 1829, the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is a private doctoral university. It is located in the town of Henrietta, Rochester, New York metropolitan area. It is the tenth-largest private university in the country in terms of full-time students. In addition to New York, RIT also has 4 global campuses in China, Croatia, Dubai, and Kosovo.

The main campus of the university is spread across an area of 1,300 acres. The campus comprises a total number of 237 buildings. The university is internationally known for its science, computer, engineering, and art programs. Its globally renowned National Technical Institute for the Deaf is a leading deaf-education institution that provides educational opportunities to more than 1000 deaf and hard-of-hearing students. 

The university also has the Vignelli Center for Design Studies which was established in 2010 and houses the archives of Italian designers Massimo and Lella Vignelli. The university library houses renowned special collections that enhance teaching, learning, and research in many of RIT's academic programs.

RIT has over 150 student clubs and 10 major student organizations. The university has a primary student run-magazine, its own ambulance corps, a bi-weekly television athletics program RIT SportsZone, a pep band, a radio station, and a tech crew. The university also has a Gordon Field House and Activities Center, which is home to competitive and recreational athletics and aquatics, a fitness center, and an auditorium hosting frequent concerts and other entertainment.

The University is located on a 1,300-acre, suburban campus in Rochester (population: 210,358), 75 miles from Buffalo and 97 miles from Syracuse; branch campuses abroad in Kosovo, Croatia and Dubai. Served by air, bus, and train.
