Rice University is a private research university founded in 1912 in Houston, Texas. It has 300 acres of campus which are adjacent to the renowned Medical Center in Texas. The campus is surrounded by trees and is known as the "Tree Campus USA" by the Arbor Foundation.
The university is known for its research and creating an innovative collaboration for its students and it offers about 50 majors for its undergraduate students in different fields which include engineering, architecture, music, social sciences, and natural sciences. The university also offers minors, pre-professional and interdisciplinary programs along with research and collaboration opportunities.
The university has more than 200 student organizations and social clubs where everyone can participate, the students can enjoy various extracurricular activities like media, athletics, religion, culture, and sports and enhance their horizons. The university also has notable alumni some of them include James Baker, former US Secretary of state, Richard Smalley and Robert Curl who are Nobel prize winners, and Peggy Whitson a NASA astronaut.
