Northwestern University

Northwestern University is a private institution founded in 1851 with a campus size of 231 acres in Evanston, Illinois. Northwestern's main campuses are in Evanston and Chicago, both along Lake Michigan. Northwestern has a dozen schools, nine of which offer undergraduate programs and ten of which offer graduate and professional programs.

The University currently has over 21,000 students from 75 countries and 3,334 full-time faculty members. Furthermore, the distinguished faculty members hold notable credentials such as the MacArthur Fellowship, the Guggenheim Fellowship, the Tony Award, and honorary memberships in several academic societies such as the National Academy of Engineering, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the National Academy of Sciences. 

Northwestern University is ranked ninth among national universities in the United States by News and World Report, and its educational programs are recognized both nationally and internationally. It is worth noting that it has received a total endowment of $11 billion to date. Northwestern's highly ranked graduate schools include the Kellogg School of Management, the School of Education and Social Policy, the Pritzker School of Law, the Feinberg School of Medicine, the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the Interdepartmental Biological Sciences Program.

The school offers hundreds of campus organizations to fulfill students' varied interests with 500+ student-run organizations and clubs. All first-year students are required to live on campus for two years in the school's 10 residential colleges.
