Marshall University is a public research university located in Huntington, West Virginia. It was initially founded in 1837 as a private subscription school by the fourth Chief Justice of the United States, after whom the university is named. The university offers two associate, fifty-seven bachelor's, fifty-two masters, two educational specialists, four doctoral, and three professional degree programs.
Marshall University's Research Corporation is committed to an active, growing, and successful research enterprise that will address today's common challenges, improve the community's quality of life, and provide scope for economic development. The university has 22 research centres, and it is a not-for-profit corporation chartered under the state laws of West Virginia.
Apart from academia, Marshall university is also known for the extracurricular perks it provides. Its students can explore from over 230 different student clubs and organizations. It is also home to 20 fraternities and sororities. There are also various sports and athletics teams central to Marshall's campus life. The university has a rich history of being the oldest higher educational institution in West Virginia and was founded to offer a range of high-quality, affordable, and accessible education to all and promote and support research.
