Long Island University (LIU) is a private university located in New York and was founded in 1926. It has two main campuses, LIU Brooklyn and LIU Post. It also provides non-residential programs at LIU Brentwood, LIU Riverhead, and LIU Hudson at Rockland and Westchester.
LIU Brooklyn is located in the Downtown Brooklyn area of New York. The campus houses the Paramount Theatre which was later converted to the Schwartz Gymnasium, along with nine academic buildings, a recreation and athletic complex that includes Division I regulation athletic fields, one on-campus and two nearby residential buildings, and an adjoining parking facility.
The campus is home to the university's oldest school, LIU Pharmacy which was founded way back in 1891. This campus also has a Public Radio, LIU Television which works on campus only, and a students newspaper called Seawanhaka.
The campus’s location in Brooklyn provides a way to world-renowned museums, galleries, and theaters located in the surrounding neighborhood and throughout the New York metropolitan area. The campus also has affiliations with some of the top hospitals, health care facilities, and pharmaceutical companies in the world.
