Johns Hopkins University

Johns Hopkins University is a private research university in Baltimore, Maryland. It is considered the first research university in the United States and is spread across 10 campuses on three continents.

The faculty and the students of the university study, teach, and learn across more than 260 programs. Most Johns Hopkins undergraduates study at Homewood, the 140-acre main campus that is home to the School of Engineering and School of Arts & Sciences. The campus is also home to dozens of research labs, two libraries, residence halls, administrative buildings, and athletic and recreation facilities.

Johns Hopkins researchers contributed to a breakthrough study showing a likely biological link between Zika virus and microcephaly, a birth defect linked to abnormally small head size and stunted brain development in newborns.
