George Mason University

George Mason University (GMU) is a public research university located on the Fairfax city - Fairfax County border of Virginia state. It was initially founded in 1949, and since then, it has grown to become the largest 4-year public university in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, law, and doctoral degrees. 

George Mason University has four campuses in the Commonwealth of Virginia. They are Fairfax, Arlington, Front Royal, and Prince William. It also has a campus in South Korea. The Fairfax campus is its central location and the principal centre for undergraduate students. It houses over 6,000 of its 37,000 students and is located on a 677 wooded-acre just 25 minutes from downtown Washington, D.C. 

Given its very-high research-active university status, it annually spends $149 million on sponsored research projects. The university, listed by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education among the universities that receive the most research funding, also awards research-scholarship doctorates.
