The California Institute of Technology also called Caltech is a private institution founded in 1891 in Pasadena, California. The institute has an undergraduate enrollment of 987 students with a campus size of 124 acres. The university also has campuses in Hawaii, Louisiana, Washington, and Switzerland.
The institute offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in chemistry, and biology. mathematics, physics, computer science, and earth sciences. The institute is globally well known due to its expertise in engineering, technology, and natural sciences. Caltech's 90% of the undergraduate students participate in the research as it has more than 50 research centers and institutes.
Caltech's Jet Propulsion Laboratory is managed by NASA and its Seismological Laboratory is internationally recognized for its geophysical research. The institute has a collaborative community with faculty, students, postdoctoral scholars, and staff members who come from diverse cultures and religions.
The institute also has several athletic teams in volleyball, basketball, tennis, soccer, and swimming for both men and women, these teams are also members of the NCAA and they compete in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The University is located on a 124-acre, suburban campus in Pasadena (population: 139,731), 10 miles from Los Angeles. Served by bus and train; major airport serves Los Angeles; smaller airport serves Burbank (15 miles).
