Boston University (BU) is a private research university in Boston, Massachusetts. The university has two campuses - Charles River Campus and Boston University Medical Campus. The main campus is situated along the Charles River in Boston while the Boston University Medical Campus is located in Boston's South End neighborhood.
Boston University's housing system is the nation's 10th largest among four-year colleges. Currently, 76% of the undergraduate population lives on campus. Charles River Campus is home to the central academic library, Mugar Memorial Library. It also houses the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center, formerly called the Twentieth Century Archive, where documents belonging to thousands of eminent figures in literature, journalism, diplomacy, the arts, and other fields are housed. _x000D_
The student union of the university provides students with a food court featuring many fast-food chains and lounge areas to study and relax. The student union runs more than 500 student clubs, state-of-the-art fitness center, pubs and restaurants on campus. The university hosts a variety of social, cultural, and social justice events throughout the year._x000D_
The University is located on a Urban campus in Boston (population: 645,966), plus 135 acres along the Charles River; medical center campus in downtown Boston. Served by air, bus, and train. Public transportation serves campus.
