University Description
Paris Diderot University, also known as Paris 7, is a French university located in Paris, France. It was one of the heirs of the University of Paris. Professors from the faculties of Science, of Medicine and of Humanities chose then to create a new multidisciplinary university. When it was created, the university was called "Paris 7" to refer to the fact that it was the seventh Parisian university created. In 1992, following a Ministerial Circular authorizing the addition of a proper name attached to the university number, the University Board decided to add a name to "Paris 7", that of Denis Diderot. Diderot has thus become the symbol of the encyclopedism of a university that brings together Humanities, Science, and Health. For many years, the university was called "Paris 7 - Denis Diderot" than Paris Diderot - Paris 7. If many still call it "Paris 7" or "P7", the institution now communicates under the name "Paris Diderot" to build a coherent and embodied identity.
